Where to go for a claim, a policy or a quote
If a tenant has stopped paying, a pipe has burst, or a let is about to stand empty, the person who can act on it is the insurer. LandlordInsuranceRates.co.uk explains what the different covers mean and what conditions they carry. It does not arrange, recommend or rank policies, and it has no part in opening, assessing or settling a claim.
Making a claim
Contact the insurer named on the policy schedule, using the claims line given in the policy documents. They will need the policy number and details of what has happened, and they are the only party who can confirm whether a specific event is covered.
Buying, renewing or changing a policy
Speak directly to an insurer or to a broker authorised to arrange general insurance. They can quote on cover, explain the exclusions in a specific wording, and answer questions about premiums and excesses that depend on details only they hold.
Checking who you're dealing with
The Financial Conduct Authority keeps a public register of firms authorised to sell or advise on insurance, searchable by firm name. Checking a broker or insurer against that register is a reasonable step before handing over any money or personal details.
